Who We Are:

The Office of Student Health & Wellness at the AAC offers a comprehensive suite of programs tailored to the needs of art college students, integrating physical, mental, and creative well-being.

Student Wellness Services​

Student Wellness Center N403

  • A hub for all student-centered wellness activities.

  • Drop-in space for relaxation, mindfulness, and support.

  • Wellness events and workshops

    held regularly.

  • Collaborative programs with art and creativity at the center.

Peer Wellness Educators

  • Trained student leaders who provide peer-to-peer support.

  • Offer guidance on stress management, navigating campus resources, and healthy habits.

  • Lead workshops and campus-wide wellness campaigns.

  • Serve as approachable, relatable connections for students.

The Safe Space (Telehealth) N107

  • Dedicated private space on campus for students to access telehealth appointments.
  • Supports students who need virtual counseling, medical consultations, or wellness coaching.

Needs Assessment

AAC students may meet with the Wellness Resource Specialist to do an initial screening and evaluation to determine how the students’ mental health needs can best be met. If the Wellness Resource Specialist determines that the student’s needs require psychological or psychiatric intervention than the appropriate referral is made for further assessment.

Wellness Talks

Wellness Talks are held Wednesdays from 11:30am-12:30pm, check for exact dates  by semester. 

The Wellness Resource Specialist will hold support circles for students to discuss common experiences and build community.

Meet Sylvia Pinto AAC's School Counselor:

Hi—I’m here to support you with your mental health & overall well-being while you navigate the creative & personal challenges of art school. My approach is holistic, combining talk therapy, mindfulness, nutrition for mental health, & embodied practices like yoga. I work from a liberation psychology lens, which means I care deeply about how your identity & lived experiences shape your wellness. Whether you’re dealing with stress, anxiety, burnout, identity questions, or just feeling stuck-you’re not alone! I’m here to help you find what healing looks like for you.

  • Eligibility: All enrolled students are eligible for counseling services!
  • Scheduling: Appointments are available both virtually or in-person. Services are scheduled online.
  • Walk-ins/Crisis: Drop-in & Immediate support for students is available M-F during common hour (11:30am-12:30pm)

student health insurance

All AAC students are required to have health insurance during all terms of academic enrollment. If a student does not have health insurance, AAC provides insurance through a plan from United HealthCare that is specifically set up for AAC students.

Students can waive AAC Health Insurance at the beginning of each school year, by showing proof of insurance. If you do need AAC insurance, a charge will be applied to your student bill. Please contact the Wellness Resource Specialist for more information about AAC Health Insurance.
