OOE CLASS

Community: Drawing and Printmaking

Wednesdays
Art Academy of Cincinnati
Explore all mark-making can be by learning both printmaking and drawing skills.
Instructor shows students how to print

In this class, students will practice various critical techniques in both drawing and printmaking, as they are closely related mark-making disciplines. Materials such as charcoal, graphite, and ink are often integrated together in dynamic, sophisticated artworks and will be used in work produced in this course. Students, with the guidance of their instructor, will complete two projects by the end of this course. One composition will begin with students conceptualizing and sketching, then screen printing on paper before adding a drawn component to complete the piece. The class will also create monoprints by creating a drawing, copying it on transfer paper, and then following the steps to make monoprints. With guidance from their instructor, students will take home two complete artworks integrating different types of printmaking and various drawing methods.

This course is for adults and teens. Students ages 13-17 must be registered to take the course with a parent or guardian and must be accompanied by the parent or guardian at each session. The student and guardian must also sign a Blanket Authorization Form. You can fill out the form by clicking here. This will also be sent in an email a week before the course begins and must be completed before the first session.

Required Materials: A beginner sketching set, a 24×36 inch art portfolio, and an 18×24 inch sketch pad. You do not have to purchase the exact products nor from the same sites in the linked examples, but they are examples of good, affordable options. The Art Academy of Cincinnati is not sponsored by Amazon nor Blick Art Materials.
