While exploring the integration of both painting and sculpture as disciplines, students will craft 2D ceramic artwork from clay. Students might create a decorative wall hanging, an intricate plate, a ceramic puzzle, or something else that inspires them. This class will practice hand-building skills, glazing, and how to paint on ceramic material while taking inspiration from renowned ceramicists. Students will have access to hand-building tools and slab rollers to make their projects. By the end of this course, all students will have made their own original ceramic sculptures in a supportive environment.
This course is for adults and teens. Students ages 13-17 must be registered to take the course with a parent or guardian and must be accompanied by the parent or guardian at each session. The student and guardian must also sign a Blanket Authorization Form. You can fill out the form by clicking here. Required Materials: Beginner ceramics tool kit. You do not have to purchase the exact product nor from the same site in the linked example, but it is an example of an affordable option with many useful tools.
