AAC x SVA Residency Fellowship

Art Academy of Cincinnati (AAC) is pleased to announce the AAC x SVA Residency Fellowship, a competitive opportunity that will award one AAC student the chance to participate in a fully immersive summer residency at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York City. Located in the heart of Chelsea’s internationally recognized gallery district, this fellowship provides dedicated studio space, professional mentorship, and direct engagement with one of the world’s most influential contemporary art communities.

The selected fellow will receive exclusive access to a private studio at SVA throughout the residency, supporting focused studio practice while fostering creative dialogue within a vibrant community of artists. Participants will engage in individual studio critiques with faculty, attend weekly lectures by visiting artists, critics, and gallery directors, and participate in guided gallery tours throughout New York City. Artists will also have access to SVA’s Visible Futures Lab, offering advanced tools for both digital and traditional fabrication. This fully funded residency includes tuition, student housing, airfare, and a $50-per-day per diem for 5 weeks in NYC and culminates in an open studio exhibition, presenting the work developed during the program.

The AAC x SVA Residency Fellowship application is open to current Art Academy of Cincinnati students who are enrolled for Fall 2026 courses. One student will be selected to attend one of the following residency tracks:
Fine Arts: Contemporary Practices
Fine Arts: Painting and Mixed Media

Residency Program Dates: July 7 – August 7, 2026

Application Requirements:

Applicants must submit the following materials through SVA’s Submittable portal:

Personal information (name, address, phone, email)
Website URL or 10–15 work samples with accompanying image list
Artist Statement (250 words)
Current CV or résumé

The selected fellow is expected to fully participate in all aspects of the residency, including studio work, lectures, critiques, and the culminating exhibition. Following the residency, the fellow will submit a one-page reflective essay documenting their experience and artistic development.
