Artist-in-Residence Summer Residency Program

Art Academy of Cincinnati is proud to announce the launch of its Artist-in-Residence Summer Residency Program, a competitive four-week studio residency for ten artists designed to foster artistic growth, professional development, and creative exchange. Taking place July 7-26, 2026, the program invites artists from across disciplines to apply for an immersive experience that includes a private studio (approx. 200 sq ft) located in the 120,000 square-foot AAC building in Over-the-Rhine, Cincinnati, and the option of private or shared housing across the street from the campus.

Participants will benefit from studio visits with leading arts professionals, collectors, and curators from the region, providing invaluable feedback and networking opportunities. The residency offers artists a supportive and dynamic environment to advance their practice in the heart of Cincinnatis thriving arts community.

Cost

  • 4-Week Residency $3000

    Deposit requires 50% due

  • Optional Housing $875

Requirements
  • 7-10 images or link to website / digital portfolio

Facility Access

Residents will have access to a variety of facilities to support their creative practice in these areas:

Painting & Drawing Studios:
  • Large, naturally lighted studios equipped with easels, drawing horses, storage for works-in-progress
  • Brush cleaning station and
  • Lighting area to photograph 2D work
Printmaking Studios:
  • Fully equipped for intaglio, lithography, relief, letterpress, and screen printing, including exposure units, presses
  • Darkroom for photo-based print processes.
Sculpture & 3D Fabrication Studios:
  • Includes metalworking, woodworking, and mixed-media fabrication areas with welders, saws, sanders, and ventilation systems.
Ceramics Studio:
  • Features electric kilns, wheels, glaze-mixing stations, and hand-building areas.
Photography and Darkroom Facilities:
  • Black box lighting studio
  • Colored backdrops & green screen
  • State of the art IFF rail lighting system
  • Darkroom suite with enlargers
  • Video editing room
  • Sound recording isolation booth
Digital Fabrication Lab:
  • Houses 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, and vinyl cutters for digital design, prototyping, and production.
