This course will study and employ the unique art form of traditional cel animation, which has been used to create many short animations, television shows, and movies such as Bambi, Batman, Scooby Doo, Akira, the first season of SpongeBob SquarePants, and many others. Students will conceptualize their story, plan their frames, make sketches, ink and paint each cel, scan their images, and, finally, use a simple program to transform their hand-painted frames into a short digital animation! This course would be great for individuals interested in painting, illustration, drawing, animation, storytelling, filmmaking, or those interested in learning something new under the guidance of an instructor.
This course is for adults and teens of all skill levels. Students between the age of 13 and 17 must be registered to take the course with a parent or guardian and must be accompanied by the parent or guardian at each session. The guardian must also sign a Blanket Authorization Form. This will be sent in an email a week before the course begins and must be completed before the first session.
