This course teaches students the tradition of drawing from observation. Working from still life, landscape, and live models, participants study proportion, form, and movement while confidently developing their drawing techniques. Through a series of exercises and longer projects, students build both technical skill and a personal sense of expression. Class discussions encourage an understanding of how observation shapes creativity. Beginners and experienced artists alike will find new ways to see and interpret the world through drawing.
Required Materials: A basic drawing set, an art portfolio or other carrying case, a drawing board, and an 18″ x 24″ sketch pad. You do not have to purchase the exact products in the linked examples, but they are good quality suggestions.
