Lost and Found A Group Popup Exhibition Hosted by the Contemporary Arts Center
Public Reception: Thursday, October 28, 5—7pm
Show Runs October 27—30, 2021
The Art Academy of Cincinnati’s Exhibition Studio Class is proud to present Lost and Found, a popup exhibition hosted by the Contemporary Arts Center and displayed in the main lobby. This exhibition was created in response to their current show Grave/Grove, which presents artwork by Sreshta Rit Premnath. AAC’s Exhibition Studio is an art class in which students develop a body of work to be displayed in a series of popup exhibitions around the Greater Cincinnati area. For this popup, students were invited to create an artwork in response to Premnath’s work, which juxtaposes industrial materials (such as chain-link fence and sheet metal) with living plants and forms suggestive of human figures, in ways that evoke the inequities and difficulties faced by members of marginalized groups. Taking the artwork in Grave/Grove as a starting point, Exhibition Studio students have responded with works in a range of media, including sculpture, drawing, and audio.
