Dan Reynolds, co-founder of Brave Berlin, will be the commencement speaker for the Art Academy of Cincinnati’s graduation exercises.
Reynolds has worked Art Academy graduates who have helped produce artwork and design for projects such as Luminosity. Brave Berlin is also one of the founding creative partners of BLINK Cincinnati, a four-day festival that offers large-scale architectural projections and interactive art pieces throughout a 20-block radius.
“I’ve worked really hard the last thirty years to build a creative career here (Cincinnati) and I feel a big responsibility to try and encourage the new generation to do the same. I’m proud of what the Art Academy is in this city, it’s a powerhouse. It’s been here as long as I have creating artists. It’s putting out artists that are going to go into the world and make it a better place,” says Reynolds.
Andrea Bacca and Brandon Benitez are the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program valedictorians.
“The Art Academy’s mission is to prepare young artists and designers for their professional careers. With their well-tuned ability to think critically, they will quickly become the problem solvers in a wide range of creative enterprises,” says John M Sullivan, Art Academy President.
“We know that we are preparing these young artists and designers for jobs that haven’t even been imagined yet, and we are confident that they will bring the needed skills and abilities when called upon.”
Richard Outcault (Cert., 1881) and Christopher Myers (BFA, 1999), will join the roster of other well respected Art Academy Distinguished Alumni. That list includes John Ruthven, Petah Coyne, Michael Beeghly, Thom Shaw, Walter Driesbach, Theodore A. Gantz, Chris Sickels, Ran Mullins, Tracy Kamerer, and Rick Bolton.
