Blossoming of a New Era

April 30, 8:00 am - May 10, 5:00 pm

Duct tape sculpture of a rainbow.

Duck BrandⓇ Duct Tape Exhibition Presented by the Art Academy of Cincinnati

The Art Academy of Cincinnati is pleased to partner with Duck BrandⓇ for its upcoming exhibition, entitled “Blossoming of a New Era.” The exhibition is free and will be held at Washington Park, April 30–May 2, and then travel to Camp Site Sculpture Park on May 4–10.

Blossoming of a New Era will showcase larger-than-life sculptures made entirely of Duck BrandⓇ Duct Tape. Works were created by local artists, Summit Country Day Middle School students, and the Art Academy’s Duck Tape Studio Class.

Visitors can win free Duck BrandⓇ Duct Tape by taking their photo with all 15 sculptures and using the hashtags #artacademyofcincinnati and #theducktapebrand.

“This exhibition is an opportunity to look at sculpture in a different way using a material that is accessible to all,” said Girandola, president of the Art Academy of Cincinnati. Girandola began partnering with Duck BrandⓇ in 2010 after using duct tape in his artistic practice. In 2013, he began teaching a Duck Tape sculpture course during his tenure at DAAP. The class then transitioned to the Art Academy in 2020.

“This class has taught me how to work with a material I usually wouldn’t use and has helped me become a better creator,” said Wyatt Rodgers, a sophomore at the Art Academy of Cincinnati.

At the conclusion of the exhibition, the sculptures will travel to Northeast Ohio to be a part of the Duck Tape® Sculpture Scavenger Hunt.
