The Artist and the Demon with No Particular Name

An Exhibition by Aaron Delamatre

The Art Academy of Cincinnati is pleased to present The Artist and the Demon with No Particular Name, a multi-media exhibition by Aaron Delamatre. At the center of the exhibition are two wooden marionettes, one an artist and the other a demon. In addition to being performers, these puppets are elaborate drawing tools that make and erase their own drawings. Please join us for a public reception on Friday, November 8th, from 5—8pm.

About the artist:

Aaron graduated from the Art Academy of Cincinnati in 2002, with an emphasis in drawing. Afterward, he was the artistic director of a small theater company, the Art & Drama Club, writing and directing original plays that combined puppets and actors with fantastical storytelling. In 2007 he created a card game, Omniana, where monsters have theoretical battles to the death. He has since written and drawn comics for print and online, including Dungeon Face, a choose-your-own-adventure comic that crowd-sourced an improvised story by having readers vote on the character’s path. Throughout, he has worked in a variety of media, exhibiting drawings, prints, sculptures, and paintings. He is a preparator for the Carl Solway Gallery.
