Acting and Thinking
November 18 - November 21
The Art Academy of Cincinnati’s Exhibition Studio Class is proud to present Acting
and Thinking, a popup exhibition hosted by the Contemporary Arts Center and displayed in the lower
lobby. This exhibition was created in response to their current show Haze, which presents artwork by the
Portuguese street artist known as Vhils.
AAC’s Exhibition Studio is an art class in which students develop a body of work to be displayed in a
series of popup exhibitions around the Greater Cincinnati area. For this popup, the fourteen students of
the class were each invited to create an artwork in response to Vhils’ work, which often analyzes the
history of a city not only by carving directly into the exterior walls of its buildings, but also by displaying
images of the anonymous faces of its residents. Taking inspiration from his methods and concepts,
Exhibition Studio students have responded with works in a range of media, from drawing to sculpture to
video, and more.
