Slam Bam Comic Jam!

Fans of Walkers to Wookiees will rejoice at the Art Academy of Cincinnati's first biennial “Slam Bam Comic Jam.”

The event, which will run from January 30th-February 27th, 2015 celebrates movies, books, comics, video games, art and more. At its cornerstone will be an exhibition featuring the work of artists such as Star Wars' David Michael Beck and author of Kabuki and writer of Marvel Comics' Daredevil, David Mack.

There will be a large mix of events sure to excite the comic geek in everyone: a costume contest, vendors, viewing of the documentary Making It followed by a Q&A with Director Tony Moorman, a 24 hour comic challenge…just to name a few.

All events and workshops are now free and open to the public!

Friday, January 30th, 5-8pm: Opening Day Reception
Vendors, costume contest at 6:30 p.m. with prizes from Blue Line Pro.

February 2nd, 4th and 9th, 11:30am-12:20pm, event will be located in the AAC Lecture Hall Graphic Facilitation Workshops with Mike Fleisch

Saturday, February 7-8th, 9am-9am: 24-hour comic book challenge

David Mack, New York Times Best Selling author of Kabuki comic series, writer of Marvel Comics' Daredevil and Fight Club cover artist.

David Michael Beck, illustrator known for his covers for Dark Horse Comics' Star Wars: Empire and Star Wars: Republic series. Also, created the covers for Jedi Academy: Leviathan and Jedi Council: Acts of War

Anthony Moorman, produced and directed music videos for local bands Goodbye Gemini, The Seedy Seeds and The Hiders. Also, produced and directed the documentary Making It.

Allison Craig, lead animator at Titmouse Inc. that has worked with Disney, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Mattel.

Brian Hagen, storyboard artist for Amazon Prime.

Christine Wald, illustrator that has worked with clients such as Procter and Gamble, Hasbro Toy Group and National Geographic.

Russell Ihrig, Art Academy of Cincinnati alumnus serves as Coordinator of Interpretive Programming at the Cincinnati Art Museum by day and comic artist by night. His works include La Petite Mort, a mini-comic that takes on the zombie genre with a perverse twist and Sockford a three part graphic novel.

Joe Slucher, Art Academy of CIncinnati alumus has worked as Art Director for Dark Skull Studios and IndiePub.

Mike Fleisch, managing partner at dpict. Has provided graphic facilitation and collaboration design services to clients such as Warren Buffett, Noam Chomsky, David Geffen and numerous Fortune 500 corporations.
