Dennison W. Griffith: Recent Work on Paper
October 2 - October 30, 2015
Closing Reception: Final Friday, October 30, 5-9 pm
The Art Academy of Cincinnati is pleased to present “Dennison W. Griffith: Recent Work on Paper,” an exhibition that runs in the Pearlman Gallery from October 2 – 30, 2015. Denny Griffith, a painter and photographer, will exhibit a selection of works completed between 2011 and 2013, which are from a series inspired by drawings and watercolors created during travels to Maine over many years.
These works are among the artist's favorites because they capture the impulsive, spontaneous ways in which human life emerges.
Griffith “draws” with paint, creating playful groupings of ellipses that morph into beings that float, drift, sprout, and flow, appearing to be unencumbered by gravity, weight, or any sense of burden. He uses large graphite sticks, acrylic paint, and pastels to develop a language of mark-making that brings to life sprightly forms that exist in tandem with dense, grounded shapes – cohering in harmony as playful pursuits of joy unfold.
Monday – Friday: 9:00 am – 9:00 pm
Saturday and Sunday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
