READ Faculty Exhibition

February 14 - March 7, 2014

This biennial exhibition includes nearly 30 works by 17 BFA professors: Jimmy Baker, Keith Benjamin, Regan Brown, Claire Darley, Matthew Dayler, Kathryn Dimartino, April Foster, Gary Gaffney, Matt Hart, Ken Henson, Sarah Hollis, Kim Krause, James Luckett, Constance McClure, Rebecca Seeman, Mark Thomas, and Paige Williams.

The Art Academy of Cincinnati is pleased to present “READ,” the 2014 exhibition of works by the faculty who teach in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program. The exhibition runs from February 14 – March 7, 2014 in the Pearlman Gallery and features current works by professors of art history, book arts, drawing, digital arts, film/video, humanities, illustration, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and web design.

The exhibition showcases a variety of traditions, styles, and approaches to visual art and provides a glimpse into the subjects, methods, and materials that inspire the Art Academy's BFA faculty to make and teach art. Media include acrylic paint, acrylic and ink on paper, aluminum sculpture, book arts, cardboard sculpture, graphite and wax, mixed media, mixed multimedia assemblage, oil on linen, photography, poetry, silkscreen, text, and watercolor. The artists use sound, text, library filing cards, memory, vintage lunch pails, hand-bound books, wax, paint, and sermons to explore the topic: READ.
