Undergraduate Programs

Head, Hands, Heart

Aart academy of Cincinnati exteriorll Art Academy undergraduate programs are based on the unique “1-2-1” model designed by our faculty.

  • Year 1: Foundations. The entire freshmen class takes core coursework together, learning fundamental concepts.
  • Years 2 and 3: Major studies. Students disperse into their majors and gain proficiency in a discipline.
  • Year 4: Advanced Tutorial and Senior Seminar. Seniors reconvene for a series of team-taught, multidisciplinary courses.

AAC students graduate with a broad proficiency that goes far beyond their major. They don’t just learn a specialized skill; they develop a philosophy of visual expression that applies across a range of disciplines and professional paths. AAC students learn to communicate using their head, hands, and heart. No other art school offers this type of education.

Other key components of the undergraduate curriculum at AAC include:

  • Professional Preparation: an internship, community-art project, on-campus practicum, or other real-world experience. For more information, click here.
  • Writing Assessment: Students’ writing is evaluated six times during their four years at the Art Academy. Required assignments include a Senior Thesis, student self-evaluations at the end of each of the first three years, and two diagnostics. All six writing assessments are mandatory for graduation.
