Professional Practice
T
he Art Academy’s goal regarding undergraduate education is to prepare students for life as practicing professional artists. Toward that end, the program includes a required Professional Practice component that consists of one or more of the following:
- Off-campus internship in a museum, nonprofit agency, ad agency, professional gallery, design firm, or other art-related organization
- On-campus internship in the Academy galleries or design service
- Professional practicum that engages students in partnerships with the community
Professional Preparation experiences could also include painting murals at a community center, curating an exhibit, creating a plan for public architecture or beautification, or working as a teaching assistant in a community or school arts programs.
