River City Works
Located about four blocks from campus in the Pendleton Arts District, the River City Works houses Cincinnati’s only fine-art glass-blowing facility, as well as sculpture studios and a woodworking shop. Acquired by the Art Academy in 2002, River City Works gives students the opportunity to explore a specialized artistic discipline while making connections in the vibrant Pendleton district.
The shop was founded as an independent cooperative in 1997 and remains very active in the surrounding community. Many non-AAC artists use the glass-blowing facilities, and the shop’s popular monthly demonstrations series, known as Friday Night Blows, draw large crowds from around Cincinnati. If you visit the Art Academy, don’t forget to pay a visit to River City Works.
