Not much had been going on until Wednesday. Classes, studying, classes, and then some classes. But on Wednesday, I got to go to the Vespa Museum (yes, there actually is one).
We took the train to Pontedera to the Piaggio Museum (Piaggio is the guy that invented the Vespa) and saw so many varieties of the vehicle that there’s no way it WOULDN’T be a successful fad. There was a display of outrageously decorated vespas that were winners of a competition for a celebration of the Vespas 50th anniversary.
Some of the Vespas were not scooters at all, though. While they were called different things (some were labled just “Piaggio” while others were called “Ape”, which means “bumblebee”…Oh! And “Vespa” means “wasp”), some of the Vespas were other vehicles: there was a firetruck, a carriage (used as taxis still in some Italian cities), a little van…They were all so adorable! They were so small!
But anyway, on to the pictures!
