Art of Film Video

I’m in the class Art of Film, and along with watching ancient and obscure 80′s movies and random German productions, and writing papers on them every week, as a final project we have to make our own film. I decided to make a music video to a song (a rap to be specific) that I write about art school. Now, let’s be entirely clear, here– I am one of the whitest people. Ever. Blond hair and floral prints with cute little boots is my home field, making this entire scenario even better. With the help of one of my best friends here, Jason, we wrote a rap, found a beat, recorded and edited it in Garage band, and now filmed 0ver 120 shots f0r it, lipsyncing (which was SUCH a challenge– ohmagash). I don’t understand how over 40 hours of work is only going to yield a 3 minute video. Madness.

I digress, we’re done filming and now I just need to edit it. The song is called “People Callin’ Art School Fake”, and includes a lot of inside jokes about crits, art history exams, and some of the outlandish people that you can run into in art school. I’m pretty impressed with myself and am excited to get it done. I hope my class likes it. Also, it features Jay Zumeta rapping, the Art History teacher, who is an amazing man. I think working with him in recording on GarageBand and then filming him has been one of the most fun and interesting events to happen to me this year at AAC. It definitely MAKES the video. I’ll post the video here once it’s done.
