Arriving in Florence

Sorry it’s taken so long to post on here, so I’m going to start from the beginning. On my second day in Italy, I saw more art walking down to my school than I have in two years of art school. This place is amazing and there are so many people. The traffic is so crazy. The traffic and the people all share the street, so I have to be careful not to get hit. The people are friendly, and there are all kinds of shops here.

Getting here was very fun. Me and Kourtnei had to make to 2 transitions to get to Florence. First we left Cincy to Charlotte North Carolina. That was only about 2 hours so it wasn’t bad at all. I spent most of the time staring out the window. It’s the first time I have been a on a plane. It was nuts! The next stop was to Frankfurt Germany. That was an eight hour ride, but I slept most of the time so it wasn’t that bad.

Apparently there was a baby crying near the front of the plane and someone got angry. The man who had become disgruntled started to yell at the family to make the child stop crying. The plane was lowering to land and the pressure was changing. It creates a pain in the ears and the child was simply crying because of the pain. The man couldn’t deal with it and openely expressed his displeasure. This caused a scene between the father and the man. After being told that he should move the angry man refused and began to argue with the attendants. A large man came up and sat beside him ( the air marshal) for the remainer of the flight. When we landed he was promptly arrested. I of course slept through all of this. Next was the final flight to beautiful Firenze.

The plane was much nicer than the previous two. It seemed more luxurious. I flew over some mountains that might have been the Swiss Alps. Me and Kourtnei arrived at a small terminal in Florence and met up with Iman, and then were driven to the school by our skillfull taxi driver who kindly gave us a map. I don’t think I will be getting a car in Florence any time soon though. We made it to the school to fill out some paperwork and headed off to our apartment.

The apartment is located up on the third floor and with no elevator we had to carry our luggage up the winding staircase. The electricity here is expensive so the lights in the staircase turn off after so long, so you have to push a switch to turn them back on. I almost fell because the lights went out. Finally we made it into the apartment and it was amazing. I can open the windows and look out into the streets of Florence. I can see the tops of other apartments and the tops of churches. The view is beautiful.

I am rooming with three others, they are Iman Jordan, Kourtnei Finnell, and Kayla. Yes three girls. If I come back to the States with a bullet wound to the head you will know why. Na, just kidding it should be ok. So far all they have is more bathroom supplies than me.
