Housing

All first-year students who reside outside the Cincinnati area are required to live in the Art Academy’s dorm. Freshmen living within Greater Cincinnati may choose to reside in the dorm or at home.  Priority placement in the dorm is given to traditional first-time freshmen and then to all other students at the Art Academy, in each case in the order in which dorm deposits are received.

Loft-Style Living

Located in a renovated building a block from the Art Academy building, the main dorm houses 27 students in 12 loft-style suites.  The suites vary in size and accommodate two to five students.  Each unit is equipped with a full kitchen (refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, disposal), bathroom with shower stall, washer and dryer, movable wardrobe and window treatments.  All suites are unfurnished, requiring students to provide their own furniture, bedding and style.

SECURITY
The Art Academy dorm has locked entrances, monitored by 24-hour security personnel, who are available for escort services to the main building and parking facilities.  Access to the dorm building is controlled with a security ID card.  A Resident Advisor lives in the main dorm.  The building is equipped with smoke detectors and a fire alarm/sprinkler system.

Parking

Parking is available in the enclosed Gateway Parking Garage or the open land-lot Quarter Parking, both located within a block of the Art Academy buildings.  Semester parking passes are purchased through the Finance Office.

Housing Fees

Occupancy in the Art Academy dorm for the 2010-2011 academic year costs $6,000.  A $250 dorm deposit is due by June 1, 2010.  Utilities included in the dorm fee are water, electric, heat and air conditioning.  Although available in each suite, cable television, Internet service and telephone service are not included in the dorm fee.  Students may choose to contract these services through a provider.  A $300 damage deposit is invoiced with the first semester dorm fee and tuition.  The damage deposit is refunded after the student vacates the suite, minus any damage charges that may be assessed.

Dorm Move-In Day is Saturday, August 14, 2010 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
