John M. Sullivan - President
John M. Sullivan was appointed President of the Art Academy of Cincinnati in February of 2012. He is a graphic designer, painter, and printmaker, and has served as a visual arts educator for almost thirty years, including over ten years in higher education administration.
Joan Kaup - VP of Institutional Advancement, External Relations
Joan successfully meshes her professional career with community outreach. She holds a BS in Marketing from the University of Cincinnati and an MBA in Entrepreneurship from Xavier University. She is a co-founder of OTR Flags, Second Sunday on Main and Arts in Ohio. She has been recognized as a Woman of influence (2015) and an OTR Woman of the Year (2008).
Kim Krause - Vice President for Academic Affairs, Academic Dean & CAO
Kim Krause is an artist and educator whose paintings have been included in one hundred and thirty exhibitions including fourteen solo exhibitions. The artist's work has been purchased for numerous public, private and corporate collections. Krause earned his MFA from Bard College, New York. He is professor of Art at the Art Academy of Cincinnati where he is Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Mark Thomas - Associate Dean
Mark is Professor and Associate Dean at AAC. Professor Thomas has developed courses in graphic design, illustration and design history. He is a published author of internationally distributed textbooks on design and design methodology. He has designed numerous exhibitions, catalogs, and posters. An award-winning designer of educational board game design, he also holds a U.S. Patent for a color demonstration device for teaching color theory. He is a past President and active board member of AIGA Cincinnati.
Jamie Owens - Director of Enrollment Management
As a first generation college student, Jamie graduated in 2003 with a B.S. from a Liberal Arts school Berea College. She has a huge commitment to service and is an Americorp Alumni. She has devoted her career to working in higher education for 13 years and strongly believes that education has the ability to transform lives.
Tiffany Tran - Admissions Counselor
Originally from Wisconsin, Tiffany Tran is a sculptor/sculpture using poetry and video to understand the intricacies of identity and language. In her free time, she enjoys drinking water and cooking with friends. tiffany-tran.com
Jack Wirth - Admissions Counselor
Jack Wirth recently acquired his BFA in Painting from the AAC and has been producing work in a variety of media including: paper making, drawing, writing, and sculpture. Jack has been a resident of OTR for five years, is one of the founding members of AAC QueerSpace, and loves to dance.
Tyler Hildebrand - Admissions Counselor
Tyler is a Cincinnati native and artist working in sculpture, painting and film. Has been teaching college for the past several years around the country, including at AAC. His work is represented by David Lusk Gallery.
Kristin Klein - Enrollment Processor
Joining AAC in 2014, Kristin serves as the Enrollment Processor for the Enrollment Management team. She studied dance at the University of Cincinnati.
Elyse Johnson - Admissions Assistant
Elyse Johnson is a 2015 Art Academy Alum and winner of the Steven H. Wilder Traveling Scholarship. Elyse uses performance and videos to investigate loops in nature, our contemporary relationship to the earth, and the way the land rearranges itself. Dani Tellez - Admissions Assistant
Dani is an alumni with a degree in art history and painting. She focuses on colour in many different mediums, ranging from embroidery to painting. Currently living in Over the Rhine, she can be found out and about enjoying local music, art and admiring dogs.
Denise Brennan Watson - Executive Assistant, Academic Affairs
A native of South Texas, Denise Brennan Watson was a member of the Coastal Bend English Riding Association and King English Riding Association. Denise holds a Master of Arts in Philosophy, and she completed a double major in Philosophy and Journalism with a minor in English. She loves words and culinary arts.
Alexandria TÚllez - Office Manager
A native of Texas, Alexandria grew up in a military family and lived on the East Coast until moving to Cincinnati in 2000. Alexandria began studies in Business at Cincinnati State after graduating from Oak Hills High School. She began her work at AAC in summer of 2014 in Community Education’s award-winning Camp Art Academy program.
Alex Siebert - Registrar
Alex is a Cincinnati native who primarily uses music as his creative outlet, performing in a variety of ensembles. He has devoted his career to helping people to reach their full creative potential. He believes that the arts play an integral role in shaping peoples’ lives, and enjoys meeting the creative and unique people that inspire the rest of the world.
Alyson Givens - Financial Aid Officer
I graduated from the University of Cincinnati and have always had a passion to want to change the world. I am hoping I can do that at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. In my spare time, I love horror movies and I love to read. I have a library of over 400 books and counting.
Jean Spohr - Director of Financial Aid
Jean joined AAC in 2001 as Director of Finance and she continues in that capacity today. You will find her in the business office where the favorite part of her job is interacting with the students. She enjoys their creativity and energy. Jean has always preferred working with a nonprofit where she feels her time and talent is invested enriching the community. Outside of school her life is full and busy with her family.
Jean Marie Baines - Assistant Director of Finance
Jean Marie joined the AAC in 2005 as the Assistant to the Director of Finance. As a junior at Bucknell University, Jean studied in Rome, graduating from Bucknell with a BA in Art History.Before joining AAC she did graduate work in art history at UC, worked at the CAC and raised three children. Outside of school she spends as much time with family as possible and also enjoys reading and knitting.
Chris Roediger - Director of Human Resources
Human Resources professional with a focus on employee service, supporting an engaged workforce, and excellence that drives the mission of the institution. With expertise in managing the day to day as well as a consulting perspective, the goal is the Human Resources function support and further the spectacular education we provide.
Jennifer Spurlock - Director of Community Education
Jennifer has worked in the world of communication and arts for over twenty years. She started out in broadcasting at Jacor Communications, now known as Clear Channel. In the early 2000’s she branched out into the medium of film and video production. Before joining the Art Academy of Cincinnati Jennifer served as the Marketing Manager of the Cincinnati Art Museum while studying history at the University of Cincinnati.
Lydia Collins - CE Manager
Lydia Collins received a BFA from the Art Academy in 2012, with studies focused on drawing, art history, print media, and mythology. Lydia has been involved with Community Education since her time as a student working as a teaching assistant, and has worked as coordinator since 2013. Committed to encouraging artists of all ages find their voice and passion, she hopes to pursue a Masters in Art History and Arts Education.
Melissa Rounds - CE Program Coordinator
Ohio-born and raised, Melissa moved to Cincinnati to pursue a college education and a tribe of kindred creative spirits, with much success. With a passion for facilitating events that help people tap into their own creativity, Melissa joined the AAC in 2016 and hopes to continue providing opportunities for all people to express themselves through the arts.
Kelly Enwright - Executive Assistant
As an environmental contractor for the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, she was responsible for effectively communicating with the public regarding the testing of new technologies to clean up contaminated military and industrial sites. Kelly graduated with Honors from UC with a BA in Communication Arts.
Lynn Thompson - Development and Special Projects Manager
Lynn is the Development and Special Projects Manager in the Office of Institutional Advancement. Her responsibilities include managing the donor database, assisting in donor relations and building institutional awareness, and creating special events. She is currently working on an institutional research project aligning with the Art Academy’s 150 Year Anniversary in 2019.
Robin Lippelman - Database Specialist
Robin spent more than 25 years in fundraising for several organizations around Cincinnati. Raising money for great causes was her passion before retiring in August 2010, to care for her husband. Following a five-year hiatus, she joined the development department of the Art Academy in September 2015, returning to the field she loves. Robin believes strongly in the mission of AAC and is proud to be a part of this outstanding organization.
Amanda Parker-Wolery - Director of Marketing
Amanda Parker-Wolery meshes her art background with her love of people as the Art Academy of Cincinnati's Marketing Specialist. She holds a BFA in Illustration from the University of Dayton and an MFA in Fine Art from the University of Cincinnati. When she's not on social media, you can usually find her on a bike in the mud.
Alexia Montgomery - Social Media Specialist
Alexia grew up in Canton, OH where she attended a performing and visual arts school. She moved to Cincinnati to study at UC, and now works as AAC's Social Media Specialist as well as runs Mannequin Vintage Boutique in OTR.
Matt Coors - Exhibitions Coordinator
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Matt is an artist who has worked in a wide variety of media, including drawing, sculpture, photography, and digital processes, in addition to doing freelance graphic design. He is also the cofounder of two former art galleries: Publico in Cincinnati and Double Break in San Diego.
Frank Vonder Meulen - Director of Facilities
Paul Stephens - Maintenance Technician
Paul, a Vietnam Veteran, has been with AAC Maintenance Dept. since 1969 when he returned from service. For years he worked security in the evening and maintenance during the day. When the school moved from Mt. Adams to OTR, his responsibilities grew with the size of the building. Paul and his wife enjoy visiting and spending time with their nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren living in Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, and Alabama.
Jimmy Baker - Associate Professor, Website Manager
Baker earned an MFA from the University of Cincinnati in 2004. He has exhibited work in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, London, Basel, Miami, Chicago, Dallas, and other American cities. His work has been featured in many publications, private collections, as well as permanent collections at the Cincinnati Art Museum, Columbus Museum of Art, Progressive Insurance Collection, and Zabludowicz Art Trust.
Mack Maynard - Director of Student Services - N112
Originally from Kentucky, Mack has been working in student services since he helped launch a peer mentoring and tutoring program as a student at Eastern Kentucky University. Prior to joining the AAC, he spent two years at University of Kentucky as an advisor. When not at the AAC, he is typically busy running, cycling, or reading boring history books.
Py Surber - Student Counselor - S255
Py graduated in 2017 with her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from University of the Cumberlands. She is currently completing her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. Py has also obtained a B.S. in Psychology and an A.S. in Health Care Management and Medical Records. Py has a life-long dream of being a psychologist and is passionate about helping people.
