City Beat Cover Photo Shot by AAC Senior, Catherine Viox

Catherine Viox, Senior Photography major at the AAC, has been interning at City Beat for quite some time.  Just last week she was given the opportunity to shoot the cover photo for the December 11th edition and jumped at the chance!  Here is Catherine’s reaction to the shoot:

“It’s amazing walking around the city and seeing my photo on a publication that is literally everywhere. I got to shoot my amazing boss, Jesse, reading in the snow surrounded by stacks of books. It was a fun and creative shoot and so nice to make the cover photo.  It really put into perspective how much work Jesse has to do every week to keep the magazine coming out as it should. As their head photographer, she has a lot of pressure on her shoulders. I hope within a few years I’ll be in her seat as she moves to bigger and better things.”

Congratulations, Catherine, on a job well done!

AAC Students' bi-monthly sale of fine art, crafts, and made goods.
AAC Students’ bi-monthly sale of fine art, crafts, and made goods.

The Art Academy’s mARTket is coming to Second Sunday on Main for the first time ever on October 13th. This month the Art Academy will host their first mARTket sale of the year. 30 or so students will sell their work at the Art Academy’s local bi-monthly “art fair” of student work, including fine art and handmade goods.  More info below:

The Art Academy of Cincinnati’s mARTket features current student artwork for public purchase.  Whether it be fine art, screen-print, letterpress, photography, apparel or made goods, Art Academy students have something for everyone.  mARTket sales are valuable to the community as they provide an influx of contemporary art from emerging Cincinnati artists.  They also add value to Art Academy students’ education by providing an environment where students interact with the public to negotiate price and discuss their artwork.
The AAC mARTket is located at the south end of the Second Sunday event, near 12th Street. Come on out to support the Art Academy and pick up something cool to hang.

Illustration Students Create Mural for Lloyd Library and Museum

Illustration I students pitched mural proposals to the librarians and Director at the Lloyd Library and Museum this week.  One of their proposals will be picked, and the whole class will paint the mural on location.  More in-class, client-based, real world experience!  The AAC has strong historical ties with the Lloyd Library, and we’re always thrilled to collaborate with them on projects.
