This year’s Minumental Exhibition and sale is an event not to miss! To give you a brief history: Minumentals began 27 years ago as the brainchild of the illustrious Gary Gaffney. The AAC’s previous campus had much less space for exhibitions and Gary, being the creative and thoughtful dude he is, wanted to create an exhibition where everyone in the school could participate. Thus was the birth of Minumentals, where no works larger than 2″ x 2″ x 2″ would be accepted.
This coming Minumental exhibition will be held on February Final Friday in the Convergys and Chidlaw Galleries. At the same time, a BFA Faculty exhibition will be in the Pearlman. On the 28th the exhibition will include Minumentals submitted by all students, faculty, staff and alumni, the Minumentals Sale, 2-minute performances (dance, poetry and other) in the Atrium, Minumental themed food and drink (all food 2″x2″, little Kings Cream ale, tiny waters and sodas).
All works will be juried on February 28th and awards will be announced by the juror that evening during the exhibition reception. Prizes include: Cash prizes for first and second place, two $100 gift cards to Suder’s for honorable mentions, several $50 plaza gift cards, memberships to the Carnegie, gift certificates to the CAM gift shop, and Minumental gift baskets from Rock Paper Scissors. Be there, be awesome.
