Spotlight On New Faculty:
David Butler, Jennifer Tausch, Loraine Wible
August 28 - September 18, 2020
The Art Academy of Cincinnati is pleased to present Spotlight On New Faculty, an exhibition featuring artwork by the three newest additions to our full-time faculty: David Butler, Jennifer Tausch, and Loraine Wible.
About the artists:
St. Louis native and Ohio-based artist David Butler has situated himself within the multimedia painting tradition. He attained his BFA at the Columbus College of Art and Design, and is inspired by figurative works. Butler’s work engages the visual essence of pop/urban culture, placing figures in environments and narratives to provoke dialogue on identity, and his life experiences. His recent focus is making work that provokes dialogue on how white dominant culture views Black bodies.
Jennifer Tausch, the new Head of Design at the Art Academy of Cincinnati has spent much of her career in the corporate design sector—most recently the Executive Creative Director at Stuller Inc, the largest jewelry manufacturer in North America. Previous to that she was a Global Creative Director at LPK, a global brand and package design firm, also a past Senior Design Manager at Procter & Gamble. She has traveled extensively in developed and developing markets and has a vast knowledge of consumer segments and regional retail channels. She holds a Master’s degree in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from the University of Cincinnati. With a passion for teaching, Jennifer is able to reapply her personal experiences through the course work. Her strategic mindset enables new ways of problem solving and finding opportunities to emotionally connect to consumers with the highest standards of design excellence. Her love for storytelling, through metaphors, inspires her work daily.
French-born pataphysics enthusiast Loraine Wible uses a plethora of digital tools to create absurd alternative realities and dreamspaces where Art History meets witty surrealism and jovial critique. Loraine Wible has a BFA from ESRA (Paris film school) and an MFA from The University of Cincinnati. She teaches matters of filmmaking and electronic arts at The Art Academy of Cincinnati where she runs the Video Arts and Motion Graphics department. Her works have been exhibited in museums and galleries nationally and internationally, including at The San Francisco Cinematheque, The Contemporary Art Center in Cincinnati, 21 C Museum Hotel, Vox Populi Gallery in Philadelphia, LVL3 Gallery in Chicago, and the Oxford Kinetic Festival. In France she presented works at L’Université de Reims, La Villa Douce, and La Gallerie Recto Verso, and Le Marché de la Poesie in Paris.
