JOHN COOPER, Vice President of
Enrollment Services
The best thing about my job is helping students reach their educational goals. Students place a great deal of trust in us and our ability to affirm that trust is very satisfying. Our talented students make the world a better place through the art they create and I am excited to share in their artistic journey.
When I show a potential applicant around AAC, I always make sure they see the type of family that students, staff, and faculty come together to form. Strong community is always an asset to an educational setting. There is a spirit of collaboration that exists here at AAC that is unlike any other and I want every prospective student to feel that synergy before the visit ends.
The most common question I get from interested students is
“what sets AAC a part from other schools?” It is a question that every art student should ask. My answer is that three things come together to distinguish AAC. These three things are reputation, renowned faculty, and
talented students. One sophomore student recently told me that what sold
him on the Art Academy was how much better the senior art was here than
at other schools he had considered.
If I were a freshman at AAC, the course I'd really want to take is art history.
I have a strong background in history. I believe it provides the context from
which we view the world.
