Art Academy Professors Receive Excellence in Teaching Awards.

The Greater Cincinnati Consortium of Colleges and Universities (GCCCU) held its 24th Annual Celebration of Teaching event on November 18, 2011 at Xavier University's Schiff Family Conference Center. As representatives of the Art Academy of Cincinnati, Full-Time Professor Jay Zumeta and Adjunct Professor Alan Pocaro will receive Excellence in Teaching Awards. The Art Academy's graduating class of 2012 selected the winners by vote.
 
Zumeta has taught in the Art Academy's Academic Studies Department since 1979, teaching subjects such as Art History 101, Art History 102, Aesthetics, Creativity and Criticism and Museum Studies Internship. A recipient of the GCCCU Excellence in Teaching Award in 1990, Zumeta has served in a Faculty Exchange program with the University of Cincinnati, in addition to serving a five-year appointment on Miami University Art Museum's Accessions Committee. He holds both a Master of Arts in History and a Master of Arts in Art History from the University of Michigan.
 
Pocaro has taught at the Art Academy since 2009 and is a both an award-winning artist and published writer. His artwork has been exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions, and his critical writing has been published in many local and regional publications. A native of Cleveland, Pocaro holds a Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art from Miami University, a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Akron and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art History from Ohio University. He has taught Drawing III, Drawing IV, Drawing V and Painting I at the Art Academy.
