Summer Portfolio Preparation 2010

     

Thank you for your interest in Summer Portfolio Preparation. The following information will tell you a little more about the program.

Portfolio Preparation is designed for High School juniors, seniors and graduates who are preparing for a college level art program. The faculty of the Art Academy of Cincinnati
will teach two sessions. In the full-day program, instruction will be given in advanced
figure drawing, creative processes and the majors offered in the studies of visual arts.
The sessions will also include information on portfolio development and preparation,
careers in art and art history, and oral and written communication skills to communicate
the language of the visual arts. Full-time faculty and other local artists will visit sessions
to discuss their work and to speak on special topics. Students will visit local agencies,
galleries, and artists’ studios.

The full day classes will meet from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday with a break for lunch.

Two sessions will be offered:

Session 1:  June 14 – July 2                 

Session 2:  July 12 – 30

Fees for the full-day program are $535 per session (or $965 for both sessions).

Fees do not include supplies.

How to apply

Step 1:  Students must register

Students may register to the program online or download form to register and submit by email to commed@artacademy.edu, by fax (with credit card information) to (513) 562-8778 or by mail to Art Academy of Cincinnati.Community Education.1212 Jackson Street.Cincinnati OH 45202.

                   
Step 2: Submit images via email to tbrown@artacademy.edu

                

Two images of original 2D artwork (drawings or paintings) in PDF, JPEG, or TIFF format.


Step 3: Submit recommendation from your teacher to tbrown@artacademy.edu

A letter of recommendation on school letterhead from an art teacher.

                

Deadline for applying to Session 1 is May 28.

Deadline for applying to Session 2 Is June 25.

           

            Information sessions are scheduled on April 3 and May 8.
            * Early Registration Suggested (only 25 spaces available).

Once a student is accepted a confirmation packet with a calendar, supply list, parking information and other materials will be sent.

Students will have an opportunity for portfolio review and critique by AAC admissions staff. Those who successfully complete either session will be awarded a certificate.
