CINCINNATI
Cincinnati, known as the Queen City, is a vibrant metropolis situated on the Ohio
River in the southwest corner of Ohio. Bordering Kentucky and Indiana, Greater
Cincinnati has a population of approximately two million. Cincinnati is a safe and
friendly city filled with a wealth of opportunities. It is also a city passionate about
the arts. The city and its region support an active arts community, accommodating
the highest number of arts organizations in the state. The Cincinnati Art Museum
is one of the fifteen largest art museums in the country. The cutting edge
Contemporary Arts Center, the world class Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra,
the Aronoff Center for the Arts, two Omnimax Theaters, Contemporary
Dance Theater, the Carnegie Art Center in Northern Kentucky, the Cincinnati
Opera, the Cincinnati Ballet Company, and hundreds
of museums, galleries and studios all take part in the
rich arts community.
OVER-THE-RHINE
Over-the-Rhine is one of Cincinnati’s more significant and historical urban
areas, known for its Italianate-style architecture and its German heritage.
Many Cincinnati residents, as well as visitors,
are rediscovering the appeal of Over-the-Rhine.
Main Street has become one of Cincinnati’s
most popular areas, featuring a wide variety of
restaurants, shops, galleries, and other small businesses. Historic
Findlay Market, founded in 1852, gives many shoppers the opportunity to buy
food from local farmers and vendors. Hundreds of musical and theatrical performances
are presented at the Ensemble Theater, Music Hall and Memorial Hall. The Pendleton
Art Center houses the largest number of studio spaces for artists in the world.
With the many changes and renovations happening in Over-the-Rhine, the Art Academy
is proud to be an important part of the revitalization of this growing arts district.
